Fairmont Golden Prague

Prague’s refreshed riverfront icon
VERIFIED LUXURY
Set along the Vltava River with sweeping views of Prague Castle, Fairmont Golden Prague has made a grand return following an extensive multimillion-dollar transformation. Officially reopened in April 2025, this storied landmark blends its mid-century roots with modern sophistication, offering a fresh take on luxury in the Czech Republic capital.

Its prime location in the historic Old Town puts you just steps from Charles Bridge and the city’s famed architectural treasures. Inside, the ambiance is elegant yet inviting — think marble floors, brass accents and curated Czech art. The 320 rooms and suites are sleek and tranquil, with muted palettes, bespoke furnishings and floor-to-ceiling windows framing city and river views. Other highlights include a full-service spa and wellness sanctuary, a chic rooftop bar and six refined dining venues and lounges spotlighting Czech and global flavors.

Our Inspector's Highlights

  • Originally designed by Czech architect Karel Filsak in 1974, Fairmont Golden Prague’s brutalist architecture has been meticulously restored under the guidance of architect Marek Tichý. The interiors now showcase Czech artistry — the look includes chandeliers by René Roubíček and ceiling carvings by Čestmír Kafka — that blends historical elements with contemporary design details.
  • Accommodations are dressed in warm, natural tones with smooth materials like oak, leather and marble, but it’s the postcard-perfect views of Prague Castle or the Vltava River that steal the show. Floor-to-ceiling windows let the city’s magic pour in, especially at sunrise.
  • Booking a Fairmont Gold room means private check-in, elevated concierge service and exclusive access to a cozy lounge serving breakfast, evening canapés and curated cocktails, all with sweeping rooftop views. It’s luxury with a personal touch.
  • Slip into Prague’s only heated indoor-outdoor pool or detox in the trio of saunas, all while gazing out at centuries-old architecture just beyond Fairmont Spa’s windows. With garden-view treatment suites and a light-filled fitness studio, wellness here feels like a true escape.
  • Throughout the Prague hotel, thoughtful details tell a story, from curated art installations to heritage woodwork and locally made glassware. Even the eco-conscious touches, like green roofs and rainwater reuse systems, feel seamless in a space where beauty and sustainability go hand in hand.

The Restaurants

  • Flagship rooftop restaurant Zlatá Praha offers panoramic views of Prague’s historic center and Pařížská Street. The menu presents modern interpretations of Czech cuisine, complemented by an elegant setting adorned with golden chandeliers and an outdoor terrace for alfresco dining.
  • Situated on the top floor, the vibrant Golden Eye lounge combines Southeast Asian culinary delights with a chic, 1970s cosmopolitan ambiance. Savor sweeping views of the river, masterfully crafted cocktails and curated DJ sets in a setting of gold accents and reflective mirrors.
  • The indoor-outdoor Greenhouse celebrates Czech traditions and heritage, serving Czech Pilsner, fine wines and snacks prepared on the Josper grill. The terrace, adorned with vibrant greenery and aromatic herb gardens, provides a warm and inviting setting under twinkling lights.
  • Inspired by the Oscar-winning film of roughly the same name, Coocoo’s Nest is perched in the heart of the hotel and connected to the ground-floor art gallery. The bar provides an inviting atmosphere where guests can start their day with coffee, enjoy light bites or unwind with an apéritif or nightcap.
  • Dedicated to breakfasts, group lunches and relaxed brunches, the elegantly modern Kafka Brasserie pays tribute to artist Čestmír Kafka. The space features a meticulously restored wood coffered ceiling, stained-glass paneling and displays of Czech film posters that grant an artistic bent to the typical brasserie setting.
